Around 70 students are developing games featuring the VTubers of Hololive at the "holo Indie GameJAM@YDA" from December 23 to 25, 2026. The Yokohama Digital Arts School is hosting the three-day Game Jam together with the fan-game label holo Indie.

Three days for ideas, development and presentation

Students from various disciplines are taking part in the event. Among other things, they are working on game design, programming, CG design, video and music. In mixed teams, they are to develop and present a playable project within three days. The games use Hololive members as characters or as a thematic starting point.

On the final day of the event, representatives of holo Indie will review the completed works and give feedback to the teams. Selected projects can then be developed further and go through the label's regular review process. A later release is therefore not guaranteed; for now, the focus is on developing and evaluating the prototypes.

For Japanese schoolchildren, a separate visit is planned for December 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. During this visit, they can try out the student games and follow the discussion of the results. The organizers provide information about participation on the official school website.

What lies behind holo Indie

The holo Indie label has existed since November 2023 and is operated by CCMC, a subsidiary of the Hololive company COVER. It supports the development and release of fan games based on Hololive talents. After review, suitable projects can be offered on platforms such as Steam.

Among the projects already released is the jump-action game Suba Pogo with Oozora Subaru. Productions like this show how Hololive characters are used in standalone games beyond the usual livestreams.

In addition to games, other formats are also emerging within the brand. For example, Odekake Hololive, its own TV anime, has been announced, while Asobi Mawaritai introduces four new VTubers.

The Game Jam project in Yokohama combines training in several media disciplines with a possible later release. Which games the teams develop, and whether one of them makes it into holo Indie's catalog, will only be known after the event and the subsequent review.
