MAPPA: Anime Studio Sponsors Table Tennis Player Hashimoto

The anime studio MAPPA has signed a sponsorship deal with Japanese table tennis player Honoka Hashimoto. The partnership begins in November 2026, the company announced on November 2. Hashimoto plays for Denso in the Japanese table tennis league.

Table Tennis Player Is a Fan of MAPPA Productions

In the official statement, Hashimoto said that she herself regularly watches anime and follows, in particular, the series Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, both produced by MAPPA. She is therefore pleased about the connection to the studio. The athlete thanked them for their support and said she intends to keep improving in her sport.

MAPPA justifies the commitment with respect for athletes who take on new challenges in competition. The company wants to accompany Hashimoto's continued sporting career. The published statement gives no details on the amount of the sponsorship fee, the exact contract duration or planned joint activities.

Who Is Honoka Hashimoto?

The Japanese athlete, born on July 5, 1998, is among the international table tennis elite. On October 27, 2026, she ranked 14th in the women's singles world rankings. At the 2026 World Championships she reached second place with Japan's women's team. The team won the title at the Asian Championships.

Hashimoto has also won several international tournaments in singles. In 2025 she won three WTT Contender events in Taiyuan, Lagos and Almaty. Her game is built on a defensive cutting technique that is comparatively rare at the international top level of table tennis.

Sponsorship Alongside the Anime Business

MAPPA is known, among other things, for animating Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Most recently, the studio gave insight into its production work with the MAPPA EXPO. Further reports cover the Chainsaw Man film Reze Arc and the planned MAPPA series Fall in Love, You False Angels.

The new agreement is a commitment in sport and not the announcement of an anime project.
