Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 premieres January 2027 on Netflix
A new teaser shows Mizu's journey to London, and Netflix also confirms a third and final season.

Blue Eye Samurai returns to Netflix in January 2027 with a second season. The streaming service has released a new teaser for the continuation of the animated series and also confirms a third season, which is meant to bring the story to a close. An exact start date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
Mizu continues her search in London
The series is set in Edo-period Japan and follows the swordswoman Mizu. She conceals her origins and pursues men connected to her past. After the events of the first season, the continuation takes her across the sea to London.
The new teaser shows Mizu on a ship in stormy seas. Her journey leads her to a city where she encounters new allies, familiar enemies and the consequences of her earlier decisions. Netflix continues to describe the next chapter as a story shaped by revenge.
Not all storylines leave Japan: Akemi and Taigen remain around Edo Castle, where a new shogun is shifting the balance of power. Ringo, meanwhile, tries to find a new purpose for herself. The continuation thus spreads its narrative across the settings of Japan and London.
Third season confirmed as the finale
Netflix announces not only the return in January 2027 but also the production of a third and final season. This sets the series' further direction: after Season 2, one concluding chapter is to follow. The official announcement does not give a binding release date for this finale.
Behind Blue Eye Samurai are the series creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green. The animation comes from Blue Spirit. The first season premiered in 2023 and was honored with several Annie Awards and Emmy awards, among others.
Official teaser on Netflix
Netflix presented the new information at Anime NYC in August 2026. The teaser released there offers a first look at Mizu's crossing and the coming storyline.

Netflix has also already announced dates for 2027 for other animated productions. The second season of Sakamoto Days begins in January, and the THE ONE PIECE remake, produced by WIT STUDIO, follows in February. For Blue Eye Samurai, the exact release day within January remains open.
