THE ONE PIECE: Seven episodes premiere in February 2027

WIT STUDIO re-animates the East Blue arc, adapting the first 50 manga chapters up to the encounter with Sanji.

THE ONE PIECE premieres worldwide on Netflix in February 2027. The remake produced by WIT STUDIO re-adapts Eiichiro Oda's manga story from the beginning of the East Blue arc. For the opening, Netflix announces seven episodes with a total running time of roughly 300 minutes, to be released simultaneously.

Seven episodes from the start of the pirate voyage

The first season adapts the first 50 chapters of the manga and follows Monkey D. Luffy from the beginnings of his journey to his encounter with Sanji at the floating restaurant Baratie. The new production thus covers a part of the story that was already told in Toei Animation's long-running TV adaptation.

THE ONE PIECE is produced independently of this ongoing series and is intended to show the early adventures of the Straw Hat crew with new animation and its own direction. A specific day for the Netflix premiere in February 2027 has not yet been set.

The concept visual unveiled in May shows Luffy as a child in a bar in Foosha, surrounded by Shanks, Ben Beckman and Makino. In August, Netflix also published a new key visual that references the cover page of the first manga chapter. It shows Luffy and other characters from the early days of the East Blue arc.

Creative team at WIT STUDIO

Masashi Koizuka directs; Hideaki Abe serves as assistant director. Taku Kishimoto is responsible for series composition. Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda handle character design and chief animation direction. The team also includes Yasuhiko Kajino for creature design and imageboards, Eri Taguchi for prop design, and Tomonori Kuroda as art director.

In addition to this remake, WIT STUDIO produces other anime projects. These include the new adaptation of Ascendance of a Bookworm. Reports have also already covered the original science-fiction series LONA from WIT STUDIO.

Netflix release in February

Netflix has officially confirmed the worldwide launch month and the number of opening episodes. The seven episodes are offered as one continuous release rather than on a weekly schedule. The first season focuses on the journey from Foosha to Baratie; no binding dates for further sections of the new adaptation have been announced in the cited announcements so far.
