Shin Oishinbo: Six new voice actors and theme songs revealed
Nobuo Tobita and Hiroshi Naka are among the newly confirmed voices of the Tozai Shimbun.

Six additional voice actors for "Shin Oishinbo" have been announced, along with the titles of the opening and ending themes. The series will air as a TV anime in 2027 and features a new main cast. Yohei Azakami voices Shiro Yamaoka, Hitomi Sasaki takes on Yuko Kurita, and Akio Otsuka can be heard as Yuzan Kaibara. With this, Shin-Ei Animation makes concrete the continuation after 35 years that was announced at ABEMA Anime Festival 2026.
The first announcement on September 19 had only confirmed that a new TV anime was in production. aninew had already summarized the festival program in the article ABEMA Anime Festival 2026: All Rooftop Stages on the Free Stream. Anime!Anime! now reports for the first time the broadcast year 2027 as well as the cast and key staff positions.
More voices from the Tozai newsroom
As Anime!Anime! reported on October 29, six supporting roles from the newspaper editorial staff have now also been cast. Toru Furusawa takes on Hideo Tanimura, the deputy editor-in-chief and head of the culture desk. Kosuke Echigoya voices deputy department head Tomio Tomii. Nobuo Tobita can be heard as publisher Daizo Ohara, while Hiroshi Naka takes on the role of editorial director Kyoichi Koizumi.
Anzu Yaoya voices culture journalist Kinue Arakawa, and Yuko Ushida voices her colleague Noriko Mitani. Both characters are therefore among the editorial members with whom protagonist Shiro Yamaoka works on the "ultimate menu" project. The casting expands the already known list of main roles with the supporting characters of the Tozai Shimbun.
Opening and ending confirmed
Japanese singer Yui Makino performs the opening "PROMISE ME". The music group Skoop On Somebody is responsible for the ending "証" (Akashi). In accompanying remarks, the band describes the song as an R&B piece that also takes up the love story within the new series.
No specific release date for the two songs is given in the announcement. The announced broadcast period for the anime remains 2027. Nor has a date for a German release or a streaming provider in German-speaking countries been set so far.
New voices and production staff
The protagonist Shiro Yamaoka is voiced by Yohei Azakami, and Yuko Kurita by Hitomi Sasaki. Akio Otsuka takes over the role of Yuzan Kaibara, which in the earlier TV anime was voiced by his father Chikao Otsuka.
Kenichi Nishida directs, Takahiro Nagano is in charge of series composition, and Nozomi Kawashige handles character design. The announcement names Synergism and Vega Entertainment as animation studios; the continuation is produced by Shin-Ei Animation.

"Shin Oishinbo" continues the story of the earlier TV series. The conflict between the "ultimate menu" developed by the Tozai Shimbun and the "supreme menu" overseen by Yuzan Kaibara remains central. At the same time, the continuation is meant to retain the atmosphere of the 1990s and carry on the story of Shiro, Yuko and Dan Ichiro. A precise broadcast date or a German streaming partner has not yet been named.
Atashinchi NEXT remains part of the anniversary announcement
Alongside "Shin Oishinbo", Shin-Ei Animation had confirmed new episodes of "Atashinchi NEXT". The current update changes nothing about that announcement; Taku Kimura takes over direction there. Shin-Ei's other series also remain in the spotlight, including Crayon Shin-chan and the new Doraemon theatrical film announced for 2027.
