The manga Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite (Oshi ni Amagami) by Julietta Suzuki is getting a TV anime adaptation. The Japanese publisher Hakusensha and the English-language licensing publisher VIZ Media have released a first teaser visual and an announcement video for it. There is so far no premiere date, and no details on studio, director or voice cast.

A Vampire Between Fan Goods and Blood Bags

At the center of this romantic comedy is Hina Alucard. The vampire has lived in seclusion for 30 years and finally decides to move to Japan. There she wants to pursue her passion for anime and her favorite character. In her new neighborhood, however, she meets the student Kyuta Amanatsu, who strikingly resembles her fictional crush.

Added to this is a supernatural problem: Kyuta's blood is so special that it attracts other vampires. While Hina wants to get to know her new neighbor, the two are therefore targeted by other bloodsuckers. The story combines the everyday life of an otaku with a vampire romance.

The teaser image shows Hina in an open coffin, surrounded by cushions and merchandise of her favorite character. Next to her lies a blood bag, since Hina considers drinking blood directly unhygienic. The short video introduces the starting situation with drawings from the manga.

This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.

New Anime from the Creator of Kamisama Kiss

Julietta Suzuki has published, among other works, Kamisama Kiss (Kamisama Hajimemashita), whose manga has already received an anime adaptation. Oshi ni Amagami has been running since November 2022 in the Japanese magazine Hana to Yume from Hakusensha. The 11th volume is announced in Japan for November 20, 2026. VIZ Media is publishing the series under the English title Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite.

The project's start comes amid a series of further vampire announcements: only recently, the anime adaptation of Hiiragi-san Chi no Kyuketsu Jijou was also revealed. Another work with vampire themes is the anime film anthology GROTESQQQUE.

Whether and when Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite will be broadcast or streamed in Germany has not yet been confirmed.
