An official collaboration video has been released for the anime film "GROTESQQQUE", featuring music from the episode "Nocturne – Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni". The instrumental piece "Strings Vivantes" comes from Nakano + and was released in advance on October 28, 2026. The film opens in Japanese cinemas on November 6.

"Strings Vivantes" with Musicians from Paris

The new video combines scenes from "Nocturne" with the music of the French-Japanese composer Nakano +. According to the official film website, strings and choral singers took part in the recording, including musicians from the Paris Opera and the Orchestre de Paris. Nakano + composed the music to capture both the characters' shared journey and the loneliness of a nearly immortal vampire.

This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.

At the center of "Nocturne" are Ayame, a pure-blooded vampire, and three young women who survived her bites. The four travel in a carriage through a world from which humanity has vanished. The characters' relationship to immortality and the unusually beautiful landscape shape the story.

Music Producer Explains the Soundtrack

In an interview published on October 31 with MANTANWEB, music producer Yosuke Hasegawa describes the work on the film's three segments. A total of 35 musical acts from different genres take part, including techno-pop, Vocaloid, rap, EDM and classical. Hasegawa and his team set a separate musical concept for each episode.

For "Nocturne", Hasegawa deliberately chose Nakano + and real orchestral recordings instead of purely digitally simulated string accompaniment. For the second segment, "Yoroshiku★Shojo", by contrast, the music was tuned directly to a preliminary animated cut: it is meant to run almost without interruption and blend with dialogue and sound effects. The producer also explains that many song numbers are conceived as duets.

Direction, screenplay and original character designs for the three-part film come from Atsushi Nishigori. CloverWorks handles the animation. "Shoot Shoot Shoot" by METALVERSE serves as the shared opening; the complete film soundtrack is set to be released on November 6.

Back in July, the first film song "pavilion" from GROTESQQQUE was presented. Another recent release with an official music video is the finale MV for Bunny Girl Senpai. No German cinema release of "GROTESQQQUE" has been announced so far.
