GROTESQQQUE: First film song "pavilion" released

The song from tsumiki and nanahira belongs to the episode "Elians"; further film songs are set to follow before the theatrical release.

The first film song for "GROTESQQQUE" was released on July 29, 2026. "pavilion" accompanies the episode "Elians" and combines a composition by tsumiki with vocals by nanahira.

As KAI-YOU reports, "pavilion" is based on a piece from tsumiki's solo project. For the film, it was rebuilt together with nanahira. The release is the first of several planned film songs; another piece is set to follow on August 5.

The song was already heard in the teaser released in 2024. tsumiki describes the concept as a combination of an impersonal, decaying soundscape and nanahira's expressive voice. nanahira, in turn, deliberately shapes her singing to sound somewhat more mechanical, so that it forms a contrast to the lively main character of the episode.

Three episodes in one theatrical film

"GROTESQQQUE" consists of three self-contained stories: "Elians," "Yoroshiku★Shojo," and "Nocturne – Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni." Atsushi Nishigori serves as director, screenwriter, and original character designer. CloverWorks produces the animation; JOEN and Aniplex are responsible for planning and production.

The Japanese theatrical release is scheduled for November 6, 2026. A release date for Germany or a local streaming or distribution partner has not yet been announced.

In addition to tsumiki and nanahira, numerous other musicians are involved in the film. The opening is "Shoot Shoot Shoot" by METALVERSE. Other announced names include TAKU INOUE, Reol, Surii, Otoha, VaVa, Shiina Natsukawa, and Iori Noguchi.

The staggered release of the film songs offers a glimpse of the distinct musical identities of the three episodes ahead of the theatrical release. For more anime music, see the FGO best-of "Yoin" by Maaya Sakamoto; for current Japanese box office figures, see the first Chiikawa film.
