RIM and krynX: Music video for “kotowari” shot in VRChat
The virtual singer RIM (理芽) and Japanese beatmaker krynX released their joint single “kotowari” on October 28, 2026. The accompanying music video was directed by JACKSON kaki and set in virtual worlds on the VRChat platform.
The song is the 24th release in the original music series of the label THE LUV BUGS. The project brings together producers, singers and audiovisual creators from different scenes. RIM is a virtual singer at KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO, while krynX works as a producer and beatmaker in Japanese hip-hop.
Music video produced in a virtual environment
For the new music video, JACKSON kaki used worlds from VRChat as filming locations. The production thus combines a conventional music release with imagery recorded within a social VR platform. The director has previously worked on videos for THE LUV BUGS with MANON and Aiobahn, as well as Tomggg and Fuki Kitamura.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
The lyrics come from e5. As the Japanese music magazine AVYSS reports, illequal handled the mix and mastering. The new collaboration is therefore not just a duet, but involves several contributors from electronic music and the virtual creative scene.
The official release page for “kotowari” bundles the streaming offers. A connection to a new anime opening or ending is not mentioned in the announcement.
Live performance announced for November
RIM and krynX are also part of the announced lineup for the event “THE LUV BUGS × Neuro hack with BOURO.” It takes place on November 28, 2026 at the club WOMB in Shibuya, Tokyo. The program includes further artists from the label’s circle; JACKSON kaki is also listed for the event.
For KAMITSUBAKI, “kotowari” is another release beyond classic anime soundtracks. The studio was recently also in the news with a cross-studio audition. aninew.de additionally reported on VRChat and virtual anime worlds at the Tokyo Game Show and a new music video by Hatsune Miku.
The release shows a concrete use of VRChat as a production location for music videos, not merely as a meeting place or virtual concert stage.
