Sony ELF-MN1: viewing anime figures without 3D glasses

Gugenka's HoloModel service brings Hatsune Miku and others to the new six-inch screen.

Sony announces the six-inch 3D screen ELF-MN1 for December 11, 2026. The device displays virtual figures and avatars in three dimensions without requiring 3D glasses or a VR headset. Digital anime figures from Gugenka's HoloModel service are also supported.

How the screen works

The ELF-MN1 belongs to Sony's XYN product family for spatial content. A sensor detects the viewer's eye position, and the display calculates the matching view in real time. Sony relies on improved gaze tracking with an infrared sensor, which is said to work even in low light. According to the manufacturer, the screen reaches a pixel density of 403 ppi. Techniques against disruptive double images are meant to improve the three-dimensional impression.

The connection is made via a suitable USB-C cable to a compatible Windows PC, iPhone or Android smartphone. The application providing the 3D content runs on the connected device. DisplayPort Alternate Mode is required for the cable connection. Sony also offers a developer kit for creating your own spatial content.

Hatsune Miku and other digital anime figures

Gugenka confirms that its own HoloModel service works with the ELF-MN1. Official digital figures offered through this service can thus be viewed not only on a smartphone but also on a separate desktop display. An advertising visual for the collaboration shows Hatsune Miku on the device.

The approach complements other virtual presentation forms for anime characters. At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, for example, VRChat worlds featuring Hatsune Miku and other anime projects were on view. A virtual exhibition on My Hero Academia likewise shows how anime content is presented beyond classic television and streaming formats.

Price and availability

Sony has not announced a list price for the ELF-MN1. KAI-YOU reports an estimated Japanese market price of around 54,000 yen including tax. Sales are announced to start on December 11, 2026. A German market launch or a European price is not mentioned in the available announcements. Sony plans demonstrations at its Japanese stores in Ginza and Nagoya. Further details are available on the official Sony product page.
