Shin Kochikame premieres in 2027 on Fuji TV with an entirely new main cast. The official website for "Shin Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo" also confirms a new character PV and a key visual, in which the voices of the four central characters are heard and seen for the first time.

Kankichi Ryotsu will now be voiced by Fukushi Ochiai. Shota Aoi takes over Keiichi Nakagawa, M・A・O voices Reiko Akimoto, and Raiko Sakamoto can be heard as Daijiro Ohara. The central roles of the Kameari police box are thus recast for the new series.

Gallop produces the new series

Akitaro Daichi directs. Shuichi Kamiyama and Yukinori Fukushima are responsible for the scripts, and Kenichi Hara handles character design and serves as Chief Animation Director. The music comes from Toshihiko Sahashi, while Kazuya Tanaka is credited as Sound Director. The animation is produced by Gallop, the studio that also produced the earlier TV anime adaptation of "Kochikame."

The project was originally announced for the 50th anniversary of Osamu Akimoto's manga. 2026 also marks the 30th anniversary of the earlier anime series. With the new title, the new cast, and Gallop's renewed involvement, the production aims for a fresh start that simultaneously connects to the older TV series.

Broadcast and streaming

A TV broadcast on Fuji TV in 2027 is confirmed for Japan. In addition, the series is to be streamed across various platforms; the official announcement has not yet named specific services. A German streaming partner or a release date for German-speaking regions is therefore not yet determined.

The relaunch is part of several long-running manga and anime series currently receiving new releases. Recently, for example, Gintama returned with a revised theatrical version, while New Prince of Tennis is concluding with volume 48.
