The Japanese Animation Association is unveiling the new award ceremony at the close of TOKYO ANIME NEXT.

The Association of Japanese Animations has announced the Nippon Anime Awards. The first award ceremony will take place on November 21, 2027 at SGC HALL ARIAKE in the Ariake district of Tokyo. The association presented the new anime prize on November 2, 2026, at the close of the TOKYO ANIME NEXT event.
A New Award for Anime Productions and Their Contributors
The official English name is Nippon Anime Awards, and the Japanese name is Nippon Anime Award (日本アニメアワード). The organizer wants to recognize not only works but also the achievements of the people involved in anime productions. Alongside the ceremony, programs for nurturing emerging talent and developing new business opportunities in the anime industry are planned in cooperation with the Tokyo metropolitan government.
As its guiding idea, the association highlights the path from the individual drawn movement, through emotional impact, to the worldwide reach of Japanese anime. Award categories, nominations and a selection process are not yet explained in the current announcement.
Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Conan on Stage
The announcement formed the finale of the four-day TOKYO ANIME NEXT event, which ran from October 30 to November 2 in Ikebukuro. Earlier, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra performed music from Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Detective Conan, accompanied by scenes from the series and live singing.
Nami Nakagawa performed "Kamado Tanjiro no Uta" from Demon Slayer. Ai Higuchi sang "Akuma no Ko" from Attack on Titan, while Mai Kuraki, with "Secret of my heart," connected to her long-standing association with Detective Conan. aninew.de carries further reports on the three series, including the SCREENX cinema return of Demon Slayer, a new trailer for the cinema return of Attack on Titan and a Detective Conan anniversary special.
The new award ceremony will be organized by the Association of Japanese Animations. For 2027, the date and basic concept are thus set for now; details on how the awards will be granted remain to be announced later.
