Meitantei Precure!: Movie Sets New Box Office Record

Eiga Meitantei Precure! has grossed more than 1.31 billion yen in Japan, making it the most successful single theatrical film of the Pretty Cure franchise. Up to and including October 28, 2026, over 1.03 million cinema visitors were also counted. Toei Animation confirmed the new figures on October 29 in connection with a special screening in Tokyo.
Record Among Standalone Pretty Cure Films
The film, which opened on September 18, 2026, has surpassed the earnings of Wonderful Precure! The Movie from 2024. The record explicitly refers to standalone films of the series. The 2023 crossover anniversary film Precure All Stars F still exceeds the new result with around 1.5 billion yen. A record over all Pretty Cure theatrical films therefore cannot be claimed.
The figure of more than one million cinema visitors underlines the success independently of revenue. Only a few days after its release, the film had a particularly strong start. In early October, the production announced that it had passed one billion yen. The newly published figures show that the film reached further viewers in the following weeks.
The new numbers were announced on October 29 at Shinjuku Wald 9 during a special screening followed by a discussion. Director Hanako Ueda and producers from Toei Animation and ABC Animation were in attendance.
Detective Story With Multiple Precure Teams
The focus is on Anna and the other heroines of Meitantei Precure!. In the story, mysterious incidents involving cross-shaped markings cause important objects to suddenly stop working. The fairy Rain asks the group to protect the girl Karin. The search leads to an unusual garden where Karin and the fairy Alan live.
In addition to the current team, characters from the predecessor series Wonderful Precure! and Kimi to Idol Precure♪ also appear. Even before the release, a trailer showed the encounter of the various teams. Later, the production also confirmed further transformations for Satoru and Daifuku.
Since October 2, the film has additionally been offered in 4DX format in Japan – for the first time within the series. The start of the 4DX screenings has already been reported.
In honor of the strong visitor numbers, an eighth round of entry gifts follows on November 6: a specially illustrated thank-you card with a message. Distribution is limited to the available copies. A German theatrical release of the film is not mentioned in the announcements available.
