Mega Man: Dual Override launches in 2027 with Proto Man
Capcom reveals Proto Man in gameplay for the first time in its second trailer and brings the new entry to PC and consoles in spring 2027.

Capcom is releasing Mega Man: Dual Override in spring 2027 and, in its second trailer, shows Proto Man as a playable character for the first time. The new entry will be available for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Proto Man, known as Blues in Japan, receives his own combat style. According to Capcom, he combines the Proto Buster with his shield and is designed more for close-range combat. His attacks can overheat, requiring cooldown periods between offensive phases.

New systems also apply to Proto Man
The trailer also shows two systems from Mega Man: Dual Override. Custom Chips allow abilities to be adjusted. The new Override System temporarily boosts performance considerably but then brings a drawback. Both mechanics are also available to Proto Man.
Capcom also announced Mega Man and Proto Man amiibo figures, which are meant to release alongside the game. The current announcement does not yet provide details on their functions or a separate release date.
First Japan demo at the Tokyo Game Show
At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, September 17 to 21, Mega Man: Dual Override will be publicly playable in Japan for the first time at the Capcom booth. The fair is also an important date this year for other anime-related games: Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE receives its first public playable version there, while Shangri-La Frontier shows new details about its RPG.
The announcement follows other recent Switch 2 news from Japan. Atlus has just confirmed Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 for Nintendo Switch 2. For Mega Man: Dual Override, Capcom has so far only named spring 2027 as the release window; an exact date is still pending.
