King's Proposal: Anime Starts in 2027 with Rie Takahashi
The anime adaptation of the light novels by Koshi Tachibana and Tsunako has received a first teaser visual.
The TV anime adaptation King's Proposal (Japanese: Ousama no Propose) will start in Japan in 2027. Rie Takahashi takes on the voice of the mage Saika Kuozaki. The announcement was made on October 25, 2026 at the online event "Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai"; at the same time, the production released a first teaser visual and a commentary video from the voice actress.
What is known about the anime adaptation
The new visual shows Saika Kuozaki, the most powerful mage in history and head of a mage academy. Takahashi is so far the only cast member confirmed by name. The production studio, the director and further voice actors have not yet been announced. A precise broadcast date and the Japanese broadcasters are also still pending. A streaming provider for Germany has likewise not yet been confirmed.
As early as October 2025 it had been announced that the light novel series would receive an anime adaptation. The current announcement sets the broadcast year for the first time. The official anime website shows the teaser visual as well as comments from the author and illustrator. In an officially released commentary video, Rie Takahashi also talks about her role as Saika.

Fantasy romance from the team behind Date A Live
The source material comes from Koshi Tachibana, who also wrote Date A Live. The illustrations are by Tsunako, who likewise contributed to Date A Live. KADOKAWA publishes the series under the Fantasia Bunko imprint.
The story takes place in a world that, on average every 300 hours, faces destruction. Mages secretly fight so-called Annihilation Factors that could trigger these catastrophes. At the center is Saika, whose encounter with a boy sets in motion an unusual love story and the struggle over the fate of the world.
In his comment, Tachibana points to the books' elaborate magical concepts as a challenge for the anime adaptation. Tsunako emphasizes how important the work on the character designs and the later voice recording is for the characters.
With King's Proposal another fantasy adaptation has thus been announced for 2027. Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes and Destiny Unchain Online are among those planned for the same period. For King's Proposal the concrete start month remains to be awaited.
