Voltage and Toei Animation announce a new otome adventure for Nintendo Switch titled "枷檻累々―うら黄泉照らす鬼灯夜―" (Kakan Ruirui – Ura Yomi Terasu Hozukiyo). The joint project is slated to release in 2027 as a download-only title. The companies are focusing on a dark fantasy world with a Japanese flavor and have released initial details about the creative team.

Behind the game are Voltage's console game label AmuLit and the animation company Toei Animation. Production is being handled jointly, while Voltage is responsible for planning. In Japan, the title is also abbreviated as "Kakarui." There is no concrete story outline yet; the announcement centers on the loss of a life and a bleak, emotionally driven narrative.

Kazuki Yone designs the characters

The illustrations come from Kazuki Yone, who is known, among other things, for her work on the Hakuoki series. The scenario is written by Ririka Yoshimura, who has previously contributed to Neon Clash – Echoes of the Lost and Cupid Parasite. Yoshimura is also involved in directing.

Naohiro Yuki is credited with background design. The music involves Yamato of Heart Company, and the theme song is contributed by Arika. Production responsibility is shared by representatives of Voltage and Toei Animation. Norihisa Kochiwa of Hyde is involved as development producer.

The announcement expands the lineup of narrative games for Nintendo Switch. Among the otome titles recently featured on aninew is Le Mirage Mystique. Further genre projects were also announced at the Otomate Party 2026.

First preview in November

AmuLit will show the first announcement video on November 7 and 8, 2026 at Animate Girls Festival 2026 at Sunshine City in Tokyo. Booth R-8 will also hand out a booklet with character information and a tote bag, each only while supplies last. No publicly available official YouTube trailer has been released with the announcement yet.

Japanese and English texts are planned. A specific release date and sale price have not yet been named. More information about the brand's game lineup is available on the official AmuLit website.
