Hatsune Miku: "Light" Releases as the Second BEYOND BORDERs Single
slayr, XAMIYA and picco are teaming up on the new track; the joint EP "EMERGE M♡DE MIKU" follows on September 25.

The second single from the international vocaloid project BEYOND BORDERs was released on August 28, 2026. "Light" brings Hatsune Miku together with US rapper and producer slayr, the duo XAMIYA and Japanese vocaloid producer picco. At the same time, it is now confirmed that the joint EP "EMERGE M♡DE MIKU" will be released on September 25.
As Real Sound Tech reports, "Light" combines elements of drum and bass with slayr's underground sound, electronic music by XAMIYA and the digital vocaloid voice of Hatsune Miku. An official visualizer was also released alongside the single. A verified official YouTube channel for the upload could not be clearly confirmed from the available sources, so the video is not embedded here.
International Vocaloid Project by Dwango
BEYOND BORDERs is a Japanese-American music project driven by Dwango that brings vocaloid producers together with international artists, producers and songwriters. Hatsune Miku takes the lead vocals on the tracks being created. The project was presented in July at Anime Expo in Los Angeles and aims to market vocaloid music specifically on the international stage.
According to Dwango, besides slayr and XAMIYA, the international participants include Grimes, MOLIY, Odetari, George Clanton and Frost Children, among others. On the Japanese side, picco, jon-YAKITORY and satapanP, among others, are working on the project. The first single, "Miku-Maxxing" by Grimes and satapanP, was already released on August 14.
With "Light", BEYOND BORDERs thus continues a release sequence that culminates in September with the first joint EP. Thematically, the project sits at the intersection of vocaloid culture, electronic music and international pop production. Similar overlaps of music and visual anime culture can be found on aninew.de, for example in the animation MV "WOLO" in Sheya's art book and in Maaya Sakamoto's FGO best-of "Yoin".
