The title song "Sasakure" by adieu and Yaffle is heard for the first time in the new video, including a previously unreleased passage.

The anime film We Are Aliens (我々は宇宙人) receives a new trailer that centers on the 30-year friendship of the main characters Tsubasa and Akitaro. At the same time, it features for the first time a previously unreleased passage of the title song "Sasakure," sung by adieu, the musical project of Moka Kamishiraishi. In Japan, the film opens on September 25, 2026.
As KAI-YOU reports, director Kohei Kadowaki directed the new trailer himself. The video follows Tsubasa and Akitaro from their shared childhood into adulthood, showing how their lives and their relationship change over three decades.

Yaffle writes the title song "Sasakure"
The film's music comes from Yaffle, who also handles the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of "Sasakure." The song is sung by adieu, the music project of actress and singer Moka Kamishiraishi. The trailer version now released includes a part of the song that had not previously been heard publicly.
For We Are Aliens, Kadowaki is responsible not only for directing but also for the concept, screenplay, storyboard, and editing. The film is his first feature-length animated work as director. The production is by NOTHING NEW, with MIYU PRODUCTIONS as co-producer. Tsubasa is voiced by Ryota Bando and Akitaro by Amane Okayama.
According to KAI-YOU, the team worked on the staging with an unusually extensive live-action previs: nearly all shots were first prepared as live-action footage with child actors and then transferred into the animation.
Festival stops before the theatrical release
We Are Aliens had its world premiere in the Directors' Fortnight of the 79th Cannes Film Festival and also competed in the feature film competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026.
