THE RIBBON HERO: Two-Week Cinema Release in Japan
The Netflix anime film will run from September 4 in selected cinemas; during the first week there is a limited "Reborn" CD.

THE RIBBON HERO comes to selected cinemas in Japan for two weeks starting September 4, 2026. According to KAI-YOU, the cinema release follows just under a month after the film's worldwide Netflix premiere on August 8.
A visitor bonus has also been announced for the first cinema week, September 4 to 10: anyone who sees the film at a participating cinema will receive a 12 cm CD with the title song "Reborn" by Girls Archives. The CD cover was drawn by Kei Mochizuki, who also designed the film's original character designs. The number of copies is limited; details on the second week's bonus are to follow later.
Netflix Film After "Princess Knight"
THE RIBBON HERO is based on Osamu Tezuka's manga classic "Princess Knight" and tells a new story centered on Princess Sapphire. After the catastrophe Nergal destroys her homeland of Silverland, she arrives in Goldland and confronts the returning Nergal as the Ribbon Hero.
The film is directed by Yuki Igarashi, for whom it is the first feature-length directing work. The animation is produced by the studio OUTLINE. Alongside Kei Mochizuki, Mai Yoneyama contributes to the character concepts. It was already announced before the streaming launch that three Nijisanji VTubers are part of the cast; more on this can be found in the article "THE RIBBON HERO: Three Nijisanji VTubers in the Cast".
Netflix has released THE RIBBON HERO worldwide since August 8. On the German Netflix site, the film is also available with a German audio track. The announced cinema release, by contrast, applies exclusively to selected venues in Japan; a German cinema release has not been announced so far.
