Yani Neko: Episode 9 paused for cast special
Yuko Natsuyoshi and Tetsu Inada look back on the first eight episodes with MC Dairo Tenshin.
On Yani Neko, the scheduled August 27, 2026 broadcast is not the regular ninth episode but the cast special "Kyō dake Kirei na Yani Neko Tokuban". According to Anime!Anime!, the program starts on TOKYO MX and BS11 at 0 a.m. on the night leading into August 28, Japan time. Episode 9 is instead announced for September 3.
In the studio sit Yuko Natsuyoshi, who voices Yani Neko, and Tetsu Inada as the landlord. Dairo Tenshin takes over as host. The participants look back on the first eight episodes and talk about the production. For the second half, the quiz segment "Kore Honto nya!? Uso nya!? Yani Neko Episode Talk" is also announced, which is also meant to cover background stories about the series.
The anime is based on the manga by Nyannyan Factory, serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine. The TV series premiered in Japan on July 2, 2026. The official website lists TOKYO MX, BS11 and AT-X as TV broadcasters; various Japanese streaming services also carry the series. No separate international availability of the special is mentioned in the current announcements.
The special thus only replaces this week's regular broadcast slot. Anime!Anime! already names September 3 for episode 9, so no longer-term interruption of the TV broadcast is currently announced. The cast retrospective serves rather as an inserted format between the eighth and ninth episodes.
