Suikoden: The Anime presents its central characters in a new key visual. The TV adaptation of the role-playing game premieres in Japan in October 2026; a German simulcast partner has not yet been announced.

As reported by Anime!Anime!, the new visual gathers the series' main characters. At the center of the story are the young soldier Riliu and his childhood friend Jowy, who both serve in a unit in the Kingdom of Highland. War draws them into a conflict in which their convictions and their shared past are increasingly tested.

Three Episodes Ahead of Broadcast in Cinemas

The official website also confirms a two-week premium screening of the first three episodes. It begins on August 21, 2026, in ten Japanese cinemas. An additional screening on August 23 with five members of the main cast is also planned. The regular TV premiere follows in October on TOKYO MX, Kansai TV, BS Asahi and other broadcasters; the first episode will air as a 60-minute special.

The main cast includes Toshiki Kumagai as Riliu, Shinba Tsuchiya as Jowy, Ayumi Hinohara as Nanami, Katsuyuki Konishi as Viktor and Yuichi Nakamura as Flik. Yuzo Sato directs, while Norihiro Tsuchiya is in charge of series composition. KONAMI animation handles production and project supervision. The opening, "Kanashimi sae Otonabite," is performed by amazarashi.

Adaptation of Suikoden II

The series is based on the story of Suikoden II and carries the role-playing game's political conflict into a TV production. Another well-known Japanese game franchise is thus following the path to an anime adaptation. Other long-running game series are also currently becoming more visible again through new media and anniversary projects, such as the exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of Sakura Wars.

Whether and through which provider Suikoden: The Anime will be released in German-speaking regions remains open.
