Sumire Uesaka cancels four Kyomaf appearances after threat
Voice actress Sumire Uesaka was scheduled as "Okoshiyasu Ambassador"; a Roshidere Season 2 panel is also affected.

Japanese voice actress Sumire Uesaka is canceling her four planned appearances at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2026 (Kyomaf) on September 19 and 20. The organizers confirm that Uesaka's agency requested the cancellation and that both sides, after consultation, decided to suspend her participation.
The trigger is a specific threat against Uesaka. Her agency Voice Kit said on September 14 that it had received several threatening emails, had involved the police and asked for an investigation. One day later, the agency clarified that an abduction and killing had been threatened until September 27. Hints about her place of residence were also part of the threats. Voice Kit is therefore reviewing every event and appearance scheduled up to that date individually.
Four stage appearances dropped
At Kyomaf, Uesaka was scheduled as "Okoshiyasu Ambassador" together with Yuki Kaji. The voice actor has recently been a topic on aninew.de, among other things because of his speech AI project with a voice actor competition.
Uesaka's cancellation affects, on September 19, the Kyomaf opening stage as well as the "Kyoto Ani Monozukuri Awards 2026". For September 20, her participation in the "Roshidere Project General Meeting" stage for "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Season 2" and in the fair's closing program is dropped. The organizers point out that there is no ticket refund because of this cancellation.
Uesaka voices, among others, Alya in "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian". Her recent anime roles also include the supporting character Matsuin in the Matsuken anime on YouTube.
Voice Kit explicitly asks that people not speculate about possible perpetrators or accounts and not spread such assumptions. Further changes to Uesaka's schedule up to September 27 will be announced separately as they occur.
