Shin Samurai-den YAIBA: Season 2 premieres on January 9, 2027
The Kaguya Arc continues the new adaptation of Gosho Aoyama's manga; WIT STUDIO remains involved in the anime production.

"Shin Samurai-den YAIBA" premieres its second season on January 9, 2027, continuing the new adaptation of Gosho Aoyama's manga with the Kaguya Arc. In Japan, the broadcast is again planned in the context of Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV; for Germany, no new simulcast date for the continuation has been confirmed at this time.
The new main visual places Yaiba Kurogane and his rival Takeshi Onimaru at the center. Both cross their magical swords, while Kaguya as well as Tsukikage and Gekko also play a central role in the image. The announced confrontation with Kaguya after the end of the first season thus moves visibly into the foreground.
The Kaguya Arc follows the 24 episodes of the first season
The new anime adaptation is based on Gosho Aoyama's manga "YAIBA," which ran from 1988 to 1993 in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday. Aoyama fully supervises the scenario of the new adaptation. The first season of "Shin Samurai-den YAIBA" aired in 2025 with 24 episodes and was produced by WIT STUDIO.
The second season had already been announced as the "Kaguya Arc" after the finale of the first season. Kaguya is voiced by Ami Koshimizu, Tsukikage by Koki Uchiyama. A previously released teaser visual already showed Yaiba with the Ryujin sword and Sayaka, who is abducted by Kaguya.
WIT STUDIO remains the central production partner of the series. The official Aniplex site also lists Takahiro Hasui as director, Toko Machida for series composition, and Yoshimichi Kameda for character design and chief animation direction of the current new adaptation.
Gosho Aoyama's second major anime project
For Aoyama, another of his well-known series is thus running as a current TV anime production alongside "Detective Conan." On aninew.de, there are simultaneously new reports on Conan's anniversary year, including the TV special with Mai Kuraki's "Hallelujah" and the Detective Conan program at ABEMA Anime Festival 2026.
Further details on the episode count or on German streaming availability of the second YAIBA season are currently not available.
