Shibatsuki Bukken: TV anime premieres in summer 2027
TMS Entertainment is producing the anime adaptation of the Shonen Jump+ manga about a schoolgirl and her ghostly Shiba Inu.
Esu Omori's manga series Shibatsuki Bukken is receiving a TV anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere in Japan in summer 2027. TMS Entertainment is animating the series. A first teaser and several illustrations accompanied the announcement on November 1, 2026.
A Shiba Inu Ghost as Roommate
The story follows schoolgirl Kori Momose, who lives alone for the first time after changing schools. Her new apartment in the Maison Shiba residence sounds like an unusually good deal: a newly built unit with its own kitchen and bathroom for just 4,800 yen a month. The low rent has a reason, however. Muu, the ghost of a Shiba Inu tied to the apartment, already lives in the room.
Kori tries to get along with her headstrong roommate and make the place a comfortable home. Along the way she meets the other residents of the complex and additional dog spirits. The source material blends everyday comedy with supernatural elements and focuses on the coexistence of humans and dogs.
Director and Cast Confirmed
Osamu Yamasaki directs the series. Rio is responsible for character design, while TMS Entertainment produces the show. Japanese voice actress Niina Nakabayashi voices Kori Momose. Mutsumi Tamura voices the Shiba Inu spirit Muu. Tamura is known, among other roles, as Kobayashi from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.

A first teaser shows Kori viewing the affordable apartment. When the landlord opens the closet door, she discovers the dog spirit living there. Manga author Esu Omori also contributed a congratulatory illustration showing Muu jumping out of a television.
Manga Runs on Shonen Jump+
Shibatsuki Bukken first appeared in 2023 as a standalone story and has continued since 2024 on Shueisha's platform Shonen Jump+. According to Anime!Anime!, the series has since surpassed 57 million views. The ninth Japanese volume is set to release on November 4, 2026.
The title joins several newly announced manga adaptations. For 2027, Nurumeta and Hirayasumi have already been confirmed as TV anime, among others. No exact broadcast date or German streaming provider for Shibatsuki Bukken has been announced so far.
