Rakudai Ninja Rantaro: Two Story Guides Arrive in December
The two official volumes cover the complete manga series and additionally include new editorial content and planned illustrations.

Two official Story Guides for Rakudai Ninja Rantaro will be released on December 7, 2026, together covering all 65 volumes of the manga series. Asahi Shimbun Publications is publishing the upper and lower volumes simultaneously in Japan, and Sobei Amako is supervising the compilation of the series history spanning roughly 40 years in total.
65 Manga Volumes in Two Books
The "Rakudai Ninja Rantaro Official Story Guide (Upper)" covers volumes 1 to 32, while the "Lower" covers volumes 33 to 65. According to the publisher, the books revisit selected key scenes, well-known dialogue and settings from the entire series. Both editions also include the column "Oshiete! Amako-sensei," which takes up additional information from Sobei Amako.
Asahi Shimbun Publications has also announced new editorial research content. Newly drawn manga for the guides is also planned. The official product pages list both books in B6 format with 200 pages each; the Japanese retail price is 1,650 yen per volume including tax. The publisher already lists the upper volume edition and the lower volume edition separately.
Retrospective of the Complete Series
With the two-part structure, the release is explicitly aimed at readers who want to find individual characters, scenes or quotes in the long series. The publisher justifies the structure with feedback from a reader survey and therefore compiles the manga history for the first time in two companion reference volumes.
For the German-speaking market, the official information does not yet name an edition. The release joins several current manga projects from Japan: most recently, "Kenichi 2" was announced as the first collected volume in ten years, while "Soten Le Ciel Azur" takes over the team and ongoing series of "Rakuen Le Paradis".
