Nippon Sangoku: Sequel Officially Announced, Video Out Now
A new special video shows the adult Aoteru Misumi from the sequel for the first time.
The anime series "Nippon Sangoku" has officially received a sequel. The announcement was made on September 3, 2026 during a new Prime Video line-up presentation; at the same time, a special video with the first new scenes was released.
The video first summarizes key moments from the original series. It then shows, for the first time, a new scene from the sequel: a visibly older Aoteru Misumi climbs a staircase, turns around and looks ahead. No further details about the plot, episode count or a release date have been shared yet.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
First Series Aired in Spring 2026
"Nippon Sangoku" is based on the manga by Ikka Matsuki, published by Shogakukan via MangaONE and Ura Sunday. The story is set in a future Japan whose civilization has collapsed after war, catastrophes and political breakdown. The country is divided into three power blocs; Aoteru Misumi pursues the goal of reuniting Japan.
The first anime series premiered in April 2026. It was directed by Kazuaki Terasawa and animated by Studio Kafka. Amazon MGM Studios was involved as co-producer. According to Twin Engine, the manga's circulation rose from one to two million copies in the month after the anime premiered. The series also reached the global top 10 on Prime Video.
For the sequel, neither new staff nor a broadcast or streaming date has been announced so far. Availability in Germany is also not yet confirmed. The announcement thus differs from already scheduled sequels such as "Spice and Wolf" Season 2 and "Skip and Loafer" Season 2, both of which are slated for 2027.
