Naruto: Kishimoto Announces New Manga Shadow Rising
A super teaser shows storyboards featuring Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi. More details follow in December.

Masashi Kishimoto is working on a new Naruto manga titled “Naruto: Shadow Rising”. The announcement was made on October 10, 2026, during New York Comic Con. An official super teaser shows storyboards and familiar characters from the world of Konoha for the first time. Further details are to follow at Jump Festa in December.
Teaser Shows Naruto, Sasuke and Team 7
The announcement video first shows the stone portraits of the six previous Hokage. Next to them, a seventh rock carving is under construction. Sketches then appear of Naruto wearing a Hokage hat, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura holding a baby. Finally, the teaser shows a confrontation between Naruto and Sasuke.
The official Japanese Naruto website explicitly names “NARUTO - SHADOW RISING” as the title of the new manga. The brief preview leaves open which storyline the scenes actually cover. No release date, planned length of the story or German publication has been announced so far.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
Further Information Announced for December
The next presentation is scheduled for Jump Festa 2027 on December 19 and 20, 2026, at Makuhari Messe in Japan. There, the Naruto stage is expected to provide new information about the projects shown at Comic Con.
The manga announcement is part of a broader initiative called Project Rasengan, which is meant to bring together new stories and other releases from the Naruto universe. The accompanying visual shows Naruto with a Rasengan in front of motifs from the manga, anime and games. It is a project image and not yet a cover of the new manga.
New Crossover Anime in Development
At the same event, Naruto × Ninku as a four-part anime was also presented. Kishimoto is overseeing this project together with Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama. The two announcements are separate productions.
In addition, Naruto will also continue on stage: a nonverbal live show in Kyoto is announced for 2027. Shadow Rising, by contrast, is explicitly a new manga project by Kishimoto whose publication details are still pending.
