Gundam XARX-ZERO: TV premiere in April 2027 confirmed
Kenji Kamiyama's new Gundam timeline shares its world with the action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT.

Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO premieres on Japanese television in April 2027. Anime!Anime! reports on the now confirmed broadcast month, new scene images, and an extensive interview with director and series composer Kenji Kamiyama.
The series is part of the new "RG Project" and shares its world with the action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. While the anime is set roughly 100 years before the events of the game, it is meant to show the starting point of this new story. According to the current announcement, the game is scheduled for release on March 5, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
The official teaser from July 2026 shows Azumi Rey, Gundam ZERO, and the threat of the Apocalypse. The video was published on the official Gundam channel.

Its own timeline for XARX-ZERO
Kamiyama confirmed on the official Gundam website that XARX-ZERO takes place in a self-contained timeline. The story begins 45 years after Earth was abandoned: an extraterrestrial, self-replicating threat called the "Apocalypse" has driven humanity from its home. At the center is Azumi Rey, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, who awakens on the Moon as the pilot of Gundam ZERO.
The director also explains that the name "Rey" was deliberately chosen so that viewers intuitively recognize the protagonist as a central figure within the new world. Well-known visual motifs of the Gundam series are also meant to be picked up deliberately in the new timeline. Animation is produced by SOLA ANIMATION; the science-fiction concept is overseen by To EnJoe.
No exact broadcast date or German streaming partner has been announced so far. Within the franchise, further major dates are also coming up in 2027: the GUNDAM-Con with two SEED FREEDOM ZERO slots has already been announced for January. Most recently, the series also marked the 30th anniversary of After War Gundam X with a large poster campaign in Japan.
