Gundam Unicorn: Odaiba Statue Bids Farewell After Nine Years
At the Final Ceremony, Hiroyuki Sawano and SennaRin performed; a pre-recorded message from the voice actors of Banagher and Haro closed the evening.
The life-size Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba ends its display on August 31, 2026, after almost nine years. On August 29, the official Final Ceremony was held in front of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, focusing on the history of the installation, a live performance, and a closing special program.
The statue of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn has stood on the Festival Plaza of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza since 2017. Its highlights include the transformation from Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode, the movable antennas, and the illuminated Psycho-Frame elements. Since June 20, the installation has carried new markings by Hajime Katoki under the name "RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL."
Final Ceremony with Sawano and SennaRin
As reported by Anime!Anime!, the event first looked back on the history of life-size Gundam statues. Since the first RX-78-2 statue in 2009, a total of eight such installations have been shown in Japan and China; in addition, the Yokohama project of the movable Gundam was created.
In the music segment, Hiroyuki Sawano and SennaRin performed. Heard were "yet.", "ENDROLL" from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, and a version of "Cage" newly arranged for the evening under the title "Cage enD." The projection "UNICORN GUNDAM Statue ― BEYOND POSSIBILITY ―" then combined material from Gundam Unicorn with retrospectives of the past nine years and ended with fireworks.

To conclude, newly recorded farewell messages from Koki Uchiyama as Banagher Links and Ryo Hirohashi as Haro were played. According to Anime!Anime!, the Ceremony is available as an archive on the official "Gundam Channel" YouTube channel.
Gundam Remains Present with New Projects
With the end of the Odaiba statue, one of the franchise's best-known real-world landmarks disappears. However, other Gundam projects continue: the GUNDAM-Con 2027 with two stage slots for SEED FREEDOM ZERO has already been announced for January 2027. In addition, Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino will receive an exhibition in Odawara, while Bandai is releasing further franchise products with the Keroro x Gundam model kit.
A successor to the specific Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba has not been announced so far.
