The mobile RPG Kotodaman kicks off its third collaboration with Evangelion on October 30, 2026. Until November 20, new characters from the anime and film series will be available, including Rei with long hair and Shinji in a direct duel with Gendo. Developer and operator MIXI has also confirmed new event quests and the return of earlier collaborations.

The campaign begins on October 30 at around 4 p.m. Japan time and ends on November 20 at 11 a.m. Japan time. In Kotodaman, characters are combined into words to defeat enemies in an RPG combat system. The collaboration is limited to this smartphone game and does not announce any new Evangelion anime production.

Rei, Shinji and Gendo as new playable characters

The focus is on seven new character units. Rei with long hair appears as a particularly rare "Miracle Kotodaman" unit with a Water attribute and the voice of Megumi Hayashibara. The combined unit Shinji vs. Gendo is voiced by Megumi Ogata and Fumihiko Tachiki.

Further playable units include Shinji with the Spear of Gaius, Asuka, Misato and Mari from the Yamato Operation, as well as Ritsuko and Maya as the WILLE duo. Special quests feature, among others, Evangelion Unit 01 with the Spear of Gaius, Mark.09-A and other EVA units.

Up to 30 free pulls

A special summoning campaign allows up to 30 free pulls for the seven new units. Anyone who obtains Rei with long hair through this campaign unlocks an additional bonus summon for the remaining six characters. According to MIXI, the bonus only applies to certain summoning and exchange routes, not to every Rei pull.

Logging in during the collaboration distributes the unit "Rei & Muon." Kaworu in commander outfit, by contrast, is tied to purchasing a character package. In addition, summons and quests from the first two Evangelion campaigns return.

Official trailer for the third collaboration

For the announcement, MIXI published a special PV via the official Kotodaman YouTube channel:

This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.

The collaboration joins other anime game campaigns, such as the announced Frieren collaboration with Mahjong Soul and the Precure crossover with Street Fighter 6. The Evangelion franchise itself is also connected to the 20th anniversary of Studio Khara. MIXI provides information about the event on the official Kotodaman website.
