Toei Animation and other rights holders have not granted a Dragon Ball license for the reported project.

Toei Animation rejects reports of an officially licensed "Dragon Ball" theme park in France. The company states that neither Toei Animation nor the involved rights holders have granted a license for the reported project, and that Toei itself is not aware of any corresponding facts.

The statement, dated August 31, thus corrects a central point of the reporting so far on the large-scale project near Paris. KAI-YOU had previously reported on plans for several leisure attractions in the Cergy-Pontoise area. According to the official statement from the Japanese rights holders, however, use of the "Dragon Ball" brand for this venture is not authorized.

Toei Animation also clarifies that concept images and videos used in reports about the French theme park belong to a different project. The material comes from the facility in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, announced in 2024 together with the Qiddiya Investment Company. This image material has nothing to do with the French venture.

The officially announced theme park in Saudi Arabia is to span more than 500,000 square meters. Planned are seven areas, more than 30 attractions, and a roughly 70-meter-tall Shenlong as the central landmark with a large roller coaster inside. These details stem from the joint announcement by Toei Animation and Qiddiya in March 2024.

For France, therefore, only the general leisure park development plan is confirmed; a licensed Dragon Ball use is, as things stand, not part of any confirmed agreement. Whether this changes later remains open.

Current series news about the brand is also available at "Dragon Ball Super: Beerus", which starts on October 11. An example of already established anime theme park collaborations is also the One Piece Premier Summer 2026 at Universal Studios Japan.
