Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING: New anime planned after the finale
The continuation adapts a story from manga volume 27; an illustration by Yuko Iwasa accompanies the announcement.
Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is being produced as a new anime and continues the story after the conclusion of the previous series. The project was unveiled on October 10, 2026 during the event "STONE FES.2026". The official anime website published an announcement video along with a new illustration by character designer Yuko Iwasa.
Continuation after the Science Future finale
The source material is the story TERRAFORMING, which appeared in the 27th collected volume of the manga by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi. It picks up after the end of the original manga storyline. The new anime project thus takes Senku's scientific adventures beyond the main story already adapted.
The previous anime series ended on June 25, 2026. Its final season, "Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE", was divided into three cours. The first season of the adaptation had already premiered in July 2019; further seasons and the TV special "Dr. STONE: Ryusui" followed.
For TERRAFORMING, neither a start date nor a concrete format such as TV series, film or special has been confirmed so far. An episode count and a new production staff are also still pending.
First teaser and illustration released
The official announcement video contains a newly recorded line from Senku and then displays the title TERRAFORMING. The teaser confirms the new project but does not yet show extended footage of the continuation.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
The official website of Dr. STONE also features the drawing by Yuko Iwasa. It shows Senku reaching a hand forward; the illustration was created specifically to announce the new anime.
Manga creators comment on the return
Both Inagaki and Boichi responded to the news in statements. Inagaki notes that the previous anime has already fully covered the original storyline, while Senku's scientific journey nevertheless goes on. Boichi thanks viewers and looks ahead to the new production.
Recently, Nippon Sangoku and Dark Gathering were also announced as further anime continuations. For Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING, more details on scope and release are yet to follow.
