The anime film "Doko yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e" has wrapped up a series of seven short character clips. Released as "Tokishima File," the videos introduce key characters and their voice actors one by one; the film opens in Japanese cinemas on October 9, 2026.

At the center are Kazuki Tsukigase, voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi, and Nanao Akishika, voiced by Anna Nagase. They are joined by Kazuki's friend Mikiya Ozaki with Shimba Tsuchiya, Takatsu with Hiroshi Tamaki, teacher Nishina with Naohito Fujiki, Tamaki Mishima with Sumire Uesaka, and Shuji Aiba with Wataru Hatano. The film's official X account has released the seven character introductions one after another over the past few days.

An encounter spanning five decades

The story is based on the novel of the same name by Akiko Abe. For personal reasons, Kazuki leaves the big city and attends a school on the remote island of Tokishima. In an area known as the "Bay of Disappearance," he meets Nanao, who claims to come from the year 1974. The two grow closer over a summer, while their respective secrets and the island's past increasingly come to the fore.

Junichi Wada directs, and Sayaka Kuwamura writes the screenplay. Hecchima is responsible for character design and animation direction; the film is produced by TMS Entertainment and its 6th Studio. The main visual already released shows Kazuki at a grand piano on the beach and Nanao by the water. Singer tota contributes the theme song "Olive."

The official information currently names October 9 as the Japanese theatrical release date. A German cinema release or streaming date is not listed there so far. Anime films recently covered on aninew.de include the cinema return of "Chou Kaguya-hime!" and "BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora".
