Dissolution of My Self: BL horror launches on Steam on September 4
The point-and-click adventure from Pop Elephant Studio combines psychological horror with a dark story about dependency and exile.

Dissolution of My Self releases on Steam on September 4, 2026. The point-and-click adventure, developed and published by Pop Elephant Studio, blends BL with psychological horror and tells of a fallen prince and his uncle, who live together in exile after losing their kingdom.
Piecing memories together in an apartment
The focus is on Hector, a prince without a kingdom, and Matvey, his uncle and former adjutant. Players examine everyday objects in a cramped rented apartment, triggering memory fragments that reveal Hector's past and the relationship between the two, shaped by dependency. According to the developer, the order in which objects are examined changes the rhythm of the narrative, but not the ending.
Nijimen describes the title as a BL psychological horror ADV. Hector is voiced in Japanese by Netoru Irakusa, Matvey by Tetsuto Furukawa. The game's Steam page lists English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese as text languages; a German localization is currently not specified. Japanese additionally has full voice acting. For German-speaking players, this means the story is currently accessible only through one of these three text languages.
According to Steam, the game relies not on monsters or jump scares but on an oppressive atmosphere, psychological manipulation and an increasingly dysfunctional relationship. The platform also notes adult themes such as violence, self-harm and substance abuse. Pop Elephant Studio describes the title as a single-player experience with a non-linear sequence of memory fragments.
For aninew.de, the title is mainly relevant as another Japanese-influenced adventure release on Steam. Recently, the mystery adventure "Hon to Kagi no Kisetsu" by Hyouka author Honobu Yonezawa was also announced for Switch and Steam. Likewise released on Steam are the revised Prince of Tennis romance adventures Gakupuri and Dokisaba.
