Cyberpunk 2077: Update 2.5 Connects the Game with Edgerunners 2
A new quest ties into the Netflix series, along with radio, clothing and cyberware options.

“Cyberpunk 2077” received the free Update 2.5 on October 22, 2026. The patch connects CD PROJEKT RED's role-playing game with the new Netflix anime series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2”, which already premiered on October 20. Alongside an additional quest, equipment items, a new radio station and further game mechanics are added.
New Quest Takes Place Before the Anime Storyline
The side mission “Clampdown” introduces events that take place before the storyline of “Edgerunners 2”. To unlock it, players must first complete the main mission “The Coup” and two jobs for Wakako. A message then triggers the next part. The quest also grants a five-piece equipment set inspired by the character King.
The new radio station HKGN 102.0 FM plays selected music from the anime world of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”. The collaboration is therefore not limited to cosmetic items: a dedicated side story links the game directly to the series' world. Developer CD PROJEKT RED explains the full changes in its German patch notes.
Update 2.5 Brings Additional Game Mechanics
Independent of the anime connection, the update includes five new clothing sets as well as further character customization options. With so-called Glamdocs, cyberware implants can be visually adjusted. A new Coolness perk also allows wielding two suitable pistols or revolvers at the same time. The photo mode gains additional poses and frames, and support for cross-platform mods is expanded.
Release is confirmed for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the original announcement, CD PROJEKT RED names the Nintendo Switch 2 as a later platform. The new features were presented to coincide with the anime's launch, as the Japanese magazine KAI-YOU reports.
Edgerunners 2 Tells a New Story
The new season comprises ten episodes and is available on Netflix. Animation studio TRIGGER again collaborates with CD PROJEKT RED. Unlike its predecessor, new characters take center stage, including former Edgerunner Weak, the netrunner D, Roman and Thalia.
The link between the game world and the anime shows how both productions build on one another. Other game franchises are currently receiving their own animated projects, such as the announced SEGA adaptations on Netflix. A different approach to the Cyberpunk genre is taken by the new Ghost in the Shell anime from Science SARU.
