Manga author Uoto opens his first major retrospective, "UO10.", in Tokyo on December 19, 2026, and intends to work on a new manga series there during the run. The exhibition, marking the tenth anniversary of his career, runs until February 23, 2027 at the YURAKUCHO MUSEUM.

The focus rests on three of his works: "100M", "Chi. – On the Movement of the Earth", and "Welcome to FACT (Tokyo S-ku Daini Shibu e)". On display are original drawings, name drafts and materials intended to make Uoto's creative process and the development of each world traceable. Uoto is himself involved in planning the show.

Workspace becomes part of the exhibition

The most unusual element is an actual workspace for the mangaka within the exhibition. According to the official UO10. page, Uoto is to work there on his new serialization. Visitors can therefore not only see finished originals but also follow how new material comes into being. KAI-YOU reports that newly produced works are to be added step by step over the course of the exhibition.

According to the organizers, Uoto began submitting manga at the age of 13 and launched his first series, "100M", in 2018. "Chi. – On the Movement of the Earth" followed in 2020 and received, among other honors, the Grand Prize for Manga at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The TV anime adaptation aired in Japan from October 2024 to March 2025.

Tickets and details on the planned original goods are to follow in October. The exhibition remains closed on January 1, 2027; it is otherwise open daily from 10 a.m.

Other well-known manga and anime creators are also currently the focus of retrospectives: in Tokyo, a Kazuki Takahashi exhibition shows 370 originals, while in Odawara a retrospective on Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino has been announced.
