Blue Lock: Live-action film passes 1 billion yen

For the film's success, Kodansha's magazine editorial team is re-releasing older guest illustrations by prominent manga artists.

The Japanese live-action film of "Blue Lock" has passed the milestone of one billion yen in box office earnings. According to Anime!Anime!, the film, which opened on August 7, 2026, reached that figure on August 25, the 19th day of its theatrical run.

Marking the film's success, the editorial team of the "Weekly Shonen Magazine" is launching a three-part thank-you campaign. In the first part, illustrations that were originally created in 2024 for a visitor booklet for the anime film "Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi-" are being shown publicly again.

The artists involved include Hajime Isayama ("Attack on Titan"), Nakaba Suzuki ("The Seven Deadly Sins"), Yoshitoki Oima, Hiro Mashima, Negi Haruba, Kei Urana, Tsubasa Yamaguchi and other manga creators. The artworks are to be published on X via the official manga account of "Blue Lock". Details of parts two and three of the campaign are to follow later.

Several media projects run in parallel

"Blue Lock" is based on the manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, serialized in the "Weekly Shonen Magazine". Alongside the ongoing manga series, the franchise now includes a TV anime adaptation, the anime film "-EPISODE Nagi-", games, stage productions and the current live-action film. A further series for the TV anime has also been announced.

The re-release of the guest illustrations deliberately connects the franchise's various projects: according to the magazine's editorial team, the live-action and anime productions work as separate teams, but the campaign is intended to bring them together under the shared "Blue Lock" project.

Hajime Isayama is also currently a topic on aninew.de in connection with the newly introduced "Attack on Titan Day" on September 9. For the live-action version of "Blue Lock", no German cinema release is known from the present report.
