The visual novel Witch on the Holy Night (Japanese Mahoutsukai no Yoru) is getting a new manga adaptation. The series begins on November 11, 2026, in issue 50 of Japan's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Keigo Maki, known for Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie, is responsible for the artwork. The story comes from Kinoko Nasu and TYPE-MOON.

First Manga Pages and Announcement Video

A preview of the new series already appeared in issue 49 of the magazine on November 4. The publisher also released the first pages, which show, among other things, the first meeting of Aoko Aozaki and Sojuro Shizuki. The announcement thus comes just a few days before regular publication begins.

An official video for the manga adaptation has been available since November 3 on the YouTube channel of Weekly Shōnen Magazine. It features Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko Aozaki and Yusuke Kobayashi as Sojuro Shizuki. The channel is operated by Kodansha.

This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.

The Story of Witch on the Holy Night

The source material is a visual novel that TYPE-MOON originally released on April 12, 2012. Nasu wrote the scenario, and Hirokazu Koyama was responsible for the character design. The plot is set in a Japanese city in the late 1980s, where the aspiring magician Aoko Aozaki and Alice Kuonji live in a house on a hill. When Sojuro Shizuki, who has moved from a rural area, meets the two, their paths begin to intersect.

The manga release falls at a time when TYPE-MOON's material is also receiving renewed attention in anime. On November 20, 2026, the theatrical film produced by ufotable premieres in Japan, both in regular cinemas and in IMAX. Details can be found in the article about the IMAX cinema release of Witch on the Holy Night.

TYPE-MOON is also connected to the Fate series. Its spin-off Prisma Illya FINALE has received new information about its TV broadcast. For the new Witch on the Holy Night manga series, the Japanese magazine launch, the creative team and the announcement video are so far the only confirmed details.
