VOTOMS: Mika Nakashima Sings Title Song for New Theatrical Film
Toshihiko Takamizawa of THE ALFEE provides the song for Mamoru Oshii's new mecha film.

The anime theatrical film "Armored Trooper VOTOMS: The Gray Witch" receives a title song by Mika Nakashima titled "Namo Naki Shijin no You ni." The musician Toshihiko Takamizawa of THE ALFEE wrote, composed, and arranged the piece. Alongside the music announcement, the production team has released a new key visual and two preview videos. The film opens in Japanese cinemas on November 20, 2026.
Mika Nakashima Sings the Title Song
The announcement from October 23 comes directly from the official website of the film. There, both a new theatrical preview and a separate trailer for the title song have been published. The track will be released digitally on the day of the Japanese theatrical premiere. A CD release is also announced for November 25.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
Nakashima handles the vocals; Takamizawa is responsible for lyrics, composition, and arrangement. Both artists also comment on the collaboration in a statement from Sony Music. The film's own musical score comes from Kenji Kawai, who has previously worked with director Mamoru Oshii.
New Visual Shows the Main Character and Her Mecha
The released main visual is by character designer Takashi Kojima. It shows the armed soldier Ash Vamps and a Scope Dog, a combat mecha referred to as an Armored Trooper. The story takes place in the final phase of the Century-Long War between Gilgamesh and Balarant in the Astragius Galaxy.
Ash Vamps survives even dangerous missions and is therefore called the "Witch." Officer Maki Stauffenberg is to investigate the secret of this soldier. Miyuki Sawashiro voices Ash, and Mabuki Ando takes the role of Maki. Further cast details appear in the previously published report on the expanded VOTOMS cast.
Sunrise Continues the Mecha Series
Mamoru Oshii directs the new production and co-writes the screenplay with Kei Yamamura. Sunrise is producing the project as part of its 50th anniversary; Production I.G supports the production. The original TV series "Armored Trooper VOTOMS" aired in Japan from 1983 to 1984. An earlier joint visual with Rakuen Tsuiho had already drawn attention to the film project.
No date for a German theatrical release has been announced so far.
