The Apothecary Diaries: Yonezu Sings Film Song
The new trailer for the feature film follows Maomao and Jinshi on their journey and introduces the specially composed song "Haru ga Tomori."

The feature film The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure opens in Japan on December 11, 2026. Kenshi Yonezu contributes the title song "Haru ga Tomori." A new official trailer lets audiences hear the song written especially for the film and shows additional scenes from the story of Maomao and Jinshi.
Kenshi Yonezu Writes the Title Song
The singer developed the new composition after conversations with novelist Natsu Hyuuga and director Norihiro Naganuma. While working on it, Yonezu drew inspiration from Japanese children's and folk songs such as "Tulip" and "Antagata Dokosa." According to his statement, he studied the screenplay intensively before the song was created.
"Haru ga Tomori" accompanies the latest film trailer, which the official TOHO animation channel released. Alongside the video, a new key visual and an overview of the characters' relationships were also published.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
Maomao and Jinshi Travel South
The plot is based on a new story by Natsu Hyuuga, the author of the underlying light novel. The emperor commissions Jinshi to return a consort who died five years ago to her homeland. Her body, however, has been preserved in an unusual way.
Together with Maomao, Jinshi therefore travels to the southern water town of Minanshu. There they encounter members of the Mi family while a group of pirates searches for a hidden treasure. When a serious incident occurs during the funeral, the different mysteries become intertwined.
Norihiro Naganuma directs, and Yukiko Kakihara writes the screenplay. TOHO animation STUDIO is responsible for the animation. Aoi Yuki again voices Maomao, and Takeo Otsuka voices Jinshi.
Japanese Theatrical Release on December 11
The first feature film in the series will be released in Japan on December 11, 2026. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures plan an international cinema release; a specific German date is not yet known.
In parallel, the third TV season is airing, for which aninew.de has already presented eleven new character posters and the broadcast start. In addition, the series' first console game is announced for 2027 and a live-action adaptation for 2028.
