Tamagotchi ring: Bandai launches first ring-shaped device
The 28-millimeter color-display device arrives for the series' 30th anniversary and is set to ship in February 2027.

For its 30th anniversary, Bandai is expanding the Tamagotchi series with the Tamagotchi ring, the first ring-shaped device in the line. According to Anime!Anime!, pre-orders in Japan have been open since August 27, 2026, via Premium Bandai; shipping is scheduled for February 2027.
According to the report, the Tamagotchi ring is the 39th device in the main series and measures 28 millimeters. That makes it considerably smaller than the first Tamagotchi from 1996, which was roughly 50 millimeters. Despite its compact form, Bandai fits it with a 0.56-inch color display. Anime!Anime! describes it as the smallest color display yet used in a Tamagotchi device.
The construction has also been adapted to the smaller form factor. The device consists of 64 components in total, including 52 electronic parts and twelve plastic parts. A newly developed charging unit reduces the space needed inside the housing; the ring is charged via a dedicated charging case. The familiar basic concept of an egg-shaped housing, display and three buttons is retained.
30 characters from three decades
For the anniversary, the device contains 30 Tamagotchi characters from different generations of the series. These include Mametchi and Kuchipatchi from the early phase, as well as Memetchi, Flowertchi, Lovelitchi and Melodytchi from later device generations. Depending on how it is cared for, the virtual pet can also evolve into secret characters.
The Tamagotchi ring comes in three color variants: Pink & Pearl White, White/Blue & Metallic Gold, and Black & Metallic Silver. The price is 7,700 yen including tax. Premium Bandai is accepting orders until October 6, 2026, at 11 p.m. Japan time.
Bandai introduced Tamagotchi in 1996 as a portable digital pet. According to the company, more than 103 million devices had been shipped worldwide by March 2026. The ring thus continues the series not only as a collector's item but also follows the established trend toward ever more compact device forms. Further Bandai releases on aninew.de include, for example, the Keroro x Gundam model kit.
