Medalist: Theatrical film opens February 19, 2027 in Japan
A new teaser visual and a first short trailer showcase the All-Japan Novice competition as the film's setting.

The first theatrical film of “Medalist” opens in Japanese cinemas on February 19, 2027. Along with the concrete date, a new teaser visual and a first short trailer were released. In terms of content, the film picks up after the second TV season and leads Inori Yuitsuka and her coach Tsukasa Akeuraji to the All-Japan Novice competition.
As Anime!Anime! reports, Inori there meets her greatest rival, Hikaru Kamisaki. On Hikaru's side stands Jun Yodaka, gold medalist and Hikaru's coach. The competition thus forms the next central sporting chapter of the story and continues the constellation already announced for the film.

Date following the first film announcement
The theatrical version of “Medalist” had already been confirmed for 2027. With the new date, a concrete Japanese release date is now set for the first time. The new material was released around the event “Anime Medalist Special Exhibition 2026” on August 30.
“Medalist” is based on the manga of the same name by Tsurumaikada, which has been serialized in Kodansha's magazine “Afternoon” since 2020. The anime adaptation follows Inori, who, together with Tsukasa, embarks on the path of performance-oriented figure skating. After two TV seasons, the film is the first theatrical production of the series.
There is so far no German cinema release or local streaming partner for the film. Other anime theatrical projects with already more concrete Japanese dates include “Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising”; “Eiga Meitantei Precure!” also recently received new film footage. In general, 2027 also remains an important year for new anime film projects, including the next theatrical film by Makoto Shinkai.
