Mai Yoneyama's music video "YOKU" is one of the three works that will be shown in cinemas for the first time.

Mai Yoneyama's three animation works "THE STORY ARC", 00:00:00:00 and "YOKU - Eve Music Video" will be shown in cinemas for the first time on September 26, 2026. The screening is part of the fourth edition of the "Theatre Anime Seminar 2026" at Theatre Shinjuku in Tokyo, as reported by KAI-YOU.

The three works come from different contexts. "THE STORY ARC" was made for Yoneyama's 2025 exhibition "YONEYAMA MAI EXHIBITION arc". 00:00:00:00 was shown at the group exhibition "SIGN OF SENSE vol.1" by the creative studio SSS by applibot. For "YOKU - Eve Music Video", Yoneyama, according to KAI-YOU, handled among other things the animation direction, the storyboard, the character design and the main animation.

Summer Ghost Runs in the Same Programme

In addition to Yoneyama's short works, Theatre Shinjuku is showing the anime film "Summer Ghost" by loundraw from 2021. After the screenings, Yoneyama, loundraw and anime critic Ryota Fujitsu will take part in a discussion under the title "The Interface Between Illustration and Anime".

The official event page of Theatre Shinjuku confirms that all three Yoneyama works will be shown on a cinema screen for the first time at this event. Admission is uniformly 3,500 yen. The format belongs to a six-part series that, from June to November 2026, addresses different developments in contemporary anime production.

Yoneyama works across illustration, animation and art. loundraw also began as an illustrator and founded FLAT STUDIO in 2019, before releasing his first anime film as director, "Summer Ghost". The event thus places side by side two creators whose work deliberately lies between the single image and the moving image.

An event outside Japan has not yet been announced.
