Macross Delta: Walkure return with new songs in 2027
Marking the series' tenth anniversary, a new drama CD with the music group is also in the works.
The music group Walkure from the anime Macross Delta will release a new single on March 24, 2027. The album project marking the TV series' tenth anniversary is titled "Walkure wa Makerarenai" ("ワルキューレは負けられない") and marks the return of the five-member group to music following their 2023 farewell tour. FlyingDog and the official Macross website confirmed the release on October 29, 2026.
Four new recordings and a new drama CD
The single features four newly recorded tracks. Besides the new title song, it contains "No Limit! No Brake!", which serves as the opening theme of the accompanying drama CD, and "Ka・i・ka・n" as its ending theme. Also included is a new version of the well-known Walkure song "Ikenai Borderline" with the addition "Perfect 5 Mix". All five members sing together on it, and new string accompaniment supplements the arrangement. Instrumental versions of the four tracks are also included.
The music is directly connected to the new Macross Delta drama CD "Kyousou no Walkure". In it, the members take part in a competition centred on the presentation of new Micro Variable Fighters. The story was written by Toshizo Nemoto, who was already involved in the series composition of Macross Delta; Shoji Kawamori is directing. The complete drama CD is included exclusively with the limited edition on a second CD.
The regular CD costs 1,980 yen in Japan, the limited double CD 3,520 yen. The music is also to be available on international streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music on the release day. The additional drama CD is explicitly not announced for streaming.
Return after the farewell tour
Walkure had initially ended their regular music activities with the arena tour "Last Mission" in 2023. According to the official Macross portal, the six performances drew around 74,000 visitors. The new project thus reconnects with the story and music of the anime group after four years.
The cover illustration is by Chisato Mita (CAPCOM), who had already created the original character designs for Macross Delta. The artwork shows the five members in racing-style costumes on futuristic platforms.
For the anniversary, FlyingDog will also publish older music videos in full on the official YouTube channel for the first time. Starting on November 5, 2026, "Ichido Dake no Koi Nara" is to lead the way, with further videos following on subsequent Thursdays.
The new single expands the music side of the Macross franchise, which aninew.de most recently covered alongside a collectible figure of Lynn Minmay. Music groups are also important in other current anime projects, such as BanG Dream! MyGO!!!!! // Ave Mujica and the anime film Ave Mujica prima aurora.
