Kaiju No. 8: "Narumi's Everyday Life" premieres September 5
The four-part original short series follows Gen Narumi through office chaos, games, and his reputation as the strongest fighter in the defense force.

"Kaiju No. 8: Narumis Alltag" premieres September 5, 2026 and will be released in four episodes. As Anime!Anime! reports, the original short series puts Gen Narumi at the center and shows the commander of the First Division away from the major battles.
The short series is titled "Narumi no Heijitsu" in the original. Within Japan's defense force, Narumi is considered the strongest active combatant, but outside the battlefield he stands out for a much less exemplary way of working. He skips meetings, keeps putting off administrative work, and prefers to spend his free time playing video games and online.
The story is based on an idea by Wataru Watanabe, author of the spin-off manga "Kaiju No. 8 RELAX." Shigeyuki Miya directs. Tetsuya Nishio is responsible for character design and overall animation direction, while Yuta Bando composes the music. The animation is again produced by Production I.G; Studio Khara handles the monster designs and related production work.
Gen Narumi is voiced by Koki Uchiyama, as in the main series. The short series strikes a noticeably more comedic tone than the regular episodes and focuses on the everyday problems of a character who is considered nearly unbeatable in combat.
Alongside the concrete premiere date, a new visual for the announced special event and an illustration for Kafka Hibino's birthday were released. The report does not yet give details on international availability of the four episodes. It therefore remains open whether the short series will also be released in German-speaking regions through existing streaming partners at the same time as in Japan.
