The 95th issue of the Japanese magazine "Kikan S" dedicates a 16-page cover story to Q Hayashida on "Dorohedoro" and "Dai Dark". The issue is set to release on September 16, 2026, and features a cover newly drawn by Hayashida with Nikaido from "Dorohedoro" and Shimada Death from "Dai Dark".

As reported by KAI-YOU, the issue includes, among other things, the creative process behind the cover motif and an extensive interview with Hayashida. The focus lies on the worlds of "Dorohedoro" and "Dai Dark" as well as their working methods, in which she also draws backgrounds and props herself. "Dorohedoro" ran for 18 years and ended in 2018 with 23 volumes in total; "Dai Dark" has been serialized in the magazine "Gessan" since 2019.

The Anime Continuation Is Also a Topic

The cover story also covers the anime adaptation of "Dorohedoro". MAPPA first adapted the manga into an anime in 2020. In spring 2026, after six years, "Dorohedoro Season 2" followed, and after its finale in May, the production of a third season was announced. The new "Kikan S" issue also includes an interview with director Yuichiro Hayashi about the second season and the series, which is being continued in the currently developing Season 3.

MAPPA itself is also currently looking back on its productions: the MAPPA EXPO in Tokyo presents "Dorohedoro" alongside 19 other titles in an overview and showcases original production material from the studio's work.

The issue is themed "Kurayami no Koe – Horror-Terror". Besides Hayashida, "Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising" also receives a twelve-page feature with interviews with director Akiyuki Shinbo, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi and character designer Ume Aoki. The film recently reached one million cinema visitors in Japan. Further contributions deal with, among others, "The Summer Hikaru Died" and the illustrator Mai Yoneyama.
