From September 19 to 29, 2026, ABEMA is streaming episodes 1 to 362 of “Chiikawa” free of charge in one continuous run over eleven days. The occasion is the 1.5-year anniversary of the smartphone app “Chiikawa Pocket,” for which the streaming service is temporarily reopening a dedicated “Chiikawa” channel.

362 Episodes from September 19

As Anime!Anime! reports and ABEMA confirms in an official announcement, the special channel starts on September 19 at 10 a.m. Japan time. Through September 29 at 9 p.m., the first 362 episodes of the TV anime will run there without interruption. According to ABEMA, the episodes shown remain free to watch for one week after their respective broadcast.

The anime is based on the manga series created by Nagano and has been airing on Japanese television since April 2022. The accompanying app “Chiikawa Pocket” launched in March 2025 in 43 countries and regions and passed three million downloads within a month.

Alongside the broadcast, there is a promotion for the game. On September 27, a series code is to be released during the free channel. Redeeming it via the official website of “Chiikawa Pocket” yields 5,000 free in-game jewels, according to ABEMA.

The announcement does not state whether the special programming will be available in Germany. The promotion is therefore primarily relevant as a Japanese streaming campaign, but it bundles 362 episodes of the ongoing short series into a single free programming window for the first time.

Recently, “Chiikawa” was also present on aninew.de because of its first cinema film: “Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu” reached 13.9 billion yen. ABEMA itself is also launching another major anime campaign the same weekend and is showing 24 Pokémon films, specials and short anime free of charge.
