Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi is now complete on Disney+

Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi has been fully available on Disney+ since August 5, 2026. The official Star Wars site lists all eight episodes of the new anime series, which continues Kara's story from the earlier Visions short films.

The limited series builds on the short films The Ninth Jedi from the first volume of Star Wars: Visions and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope from Volume 3. Kara is still in training under Margrave Juro. Together with a small group of aspiring Jedi, she searches for her kidnapped father and confronts a new threat posed by a Sith leader.

Production I.G carries the story forward

Production I.G is once again responsible for the animation. Shunsuke Tada directs, Mitsuyasu Sakai writes the series, and Kenji Kamiyama is involved as supervising director. Kamiyama had already directed the original short film The Ninth Jedi.

A large part of the Japanese voice cast also returns. Chinatsu Akasaki again voices Kara, Tetsuo Kanao can be heard as Juro, and Shinichiro Miki again takes on the role of Kara's father Zhima. They are joined by, among others, Hiromu Mineta as Ethan and Hinata Tadokoro as Homen.

Eight episodes released at once

Disney calls The Ninth Jedi a new limited series within the Star Wars: Visions Presents banner, under which longer stories from the Visions universe are to be told. For the launch on August 5, all episodes were released simultaneously. The official series page lists the episodes A New Threat, A Hidden Weapon, Voice From the Past, Nawaam Attacks, The Storm of Violence, Light of the Force, The Jedi Strike Back and The Ninth Jedi.

This marks the first time a story from Star Wars: Visions has received its own longer anime series. The previous short-film structure is expanded into an eight-part continuation of Kara's storyline.
