Pokémon UNITE ends in March 2027 on Switch and mobile
The online game is being shut down worldwide. Before that, there will be a farewell event, a library and the Aeos Crown tournament.
Pokémon UNITE will be discontinued on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The Pokémon Company confirms the end of the multiplayer game for Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. After shutdown, neither logins nor online battles will be possible. The game thus ends just over five years after its launch in July 2021.
Sales and memberships already stopped
On October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC, sales of new Aeos Gems ended. At that point, new UNITE Club memberships and the automatic renewal of existing subscriptions were also stopped. Gems already owned can still be used until the game's operation is discontinued. Existing Club members keep their benefits until the end of their respective terms.
With this announcement, it is clear that the discontinuation affects both available platform versions worldwide. The English-language official notice does not mention any restriction to Japan or a single regional server.
Farewell event and personal library from November
For November 12, 2026, the developers announce a final major update. It includes a special event where, among other things, already released Unite licenses for playable Pokémon and Holowear are to be available.
In addition, a library feature is coming that can make certain personal match recordings and content visible even after operations end. For this, the required library data must be downloaded before March 23, 2027. Afterward, no later download will be possible. Library content also generally cannot be transferred to other devices.
The Japanese announcement mentions a planned refund for unused, paid Gems. The exact regionally applicable conditions and procedure should be checked by players using the official support information for their market.
Aeos Crown 2027 still takes place
The international tournament Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo, announced for March 20 and 21, 2027, is to take place despite the upcoming shutdown. Qualifiers begin as early as December 5, 2026.
The title also played a role in competitive play: in 2026, ZETA DIVISION became the first world champion in Pokémon UNITE. The last competition in Tokyo now comes just before the game's end.
Pokémon UNITE first released on July 21, 2021, for Switch and in September 2021 for mobile devices. No reason for the decision to discontinue the game is given in the official notice.
