Pokémon Tales: Aardman series premieres on Disney+ in 2027
The new stop-motion anime follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu on a journey through the Galar region.

Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu premieres worldwide on Disney+ in 2027. The new stop-motion series is being produced by the British studio Aardman and follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu on a journey through the Galar region.
Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International have entered into a global distribution agreement for the series. According to Disney, the series will launch on Disney XD in 2027 and will simultaneously stream exclusively on Disney+. An exact release date has not yet been set.
Sirfetch’d and Pichu take centre stage
The story is set in Galar. Sirfetch’d and Pichu set out together to protect other Pokémon in the region. According to the official description, however, their missions rarely go according to plan. On their journey they encounter allies and rivals and repeatedly find themselves in dangerous situations.
Aardman is realising the project as a stop-motion production. The studio is known, among other things, for Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. The creative team includes director Tom Parkinson, Nat McKay as Creative Director for IP Development, and James Young as Model Making Creative Lead. The Pokémon Company International is producing the series.

The new teaser was presented during Pokémon XP. Disney published the official YouTube link together with the announcement of the distribution agreement. The project itself had been announced earlier; what is newly confirmed is in particular Disney+ as the worldwide streaming partner, along with further details on the story and production.
Pokémon expands its presence on Disney+
The agreement also covers Pokémon the Series: The Beginning. The classic series with Ash and Pikachu is already airing on Disney XD in the United States and is available on Disney+ there and in selected other markets.
With this, Disney+ further expands its lineup of animated productions. On aninew.de, recent announcements included a new Kingdom Hearts anime series for Disney+ and the worldwide Disney+ release of the Three Deities arc of Tokyo Revengers. For Pokémon Tales, Disney has so far only named the year 2027; no specific month or day has been given yet.
